I started my double eyelid surgery journey months ago with research on Gangnam unnie and purse forum. I did several online consultations with 1mm, thankyou clinic, marble, and ilac. I ultimately went with ilac because they’re super responsive, pricing was great, foreigner friendly, and most of all I liked that the before after photos didn’t look filtered. I put a down payment and booked an in person consult with surgery right after. I went in for my in person consultation a few hours after I arrived in Korea. I was asked to change into their robes and wash my face when I first got in. I spoke with a Chinese speaking consultant ( I was told English consultants work Monday through Friday) and we went over what I was looking to accomplish. I have noticed as I’m aging, I have more skin on my eyelids and therefore wrinkles have appeared. She took down detailed notes of the shape I’d like, if I prefer incisional or non incisional method, went over paperwork and consent forms. Shortly after, I met Dr. Koh. He was briefed with what my preferences are and started mapping out what my new eyes could look like. He is very meticulous and made sure the shape and height of the crease was just right. Be prepared to open and close your eyes close to 100 times. I appreciate how detail oriented he is. He explained the eye shape I want is doable with either non incisional or incisional method. The difference would be if I chose non incisional, the wrinkles would remain. He’s able to take off a little of the extra skin through incisional DES but recovery time would be slightly longer. To accomplish the outline shape I want, I went with incisional DES, epicanthoplasty, and ptosis correction to help my eyes to not feel so heavy. After this was decided. My consultant came back in to go over pricing. After I paid, I was immediately taken to the surgery room. Everything was done so quickly and efficiently. They gave me an IV that makes my mouth dry so I don’t swallow and potentially move and mess up the doctor while he’s working on me. I was strapped to the surgical table and given local anesthesia and was out for a few hours. I remember being woken up to open and close my eyes a few times so the doctor could check for symmetry. Next thing I knew I was being helped out of the table and into the recovery room to ice my eyes. I don’t remember how long I was in the recovery room for but my consultation was at 10am and I left ilac at around 3:20 pm. My kind husband was given a prescription and he got everything for me in the pharmacy downstairs while I was in surgery. It included antibiotics, pain meds, ointment, and eye drops. Im on day two post surgery and my eyes are obviously still swollen. I have my check up later today and am planning on using the laser deswelling machine they have. The last two days have been fine. Other than looking crazy with swollen eyes (I wear sunglasses day and night) and non stop teary eyes, there hasn’t been much pain thankfully. I take the meds three times a day, ice my eyes as often as possible (I’m out exploring Seoul most of the day but they say walking is great for recovery) and I get the stitches removed seven days after surgery. I’ll post again after I get the stitches removed. Until then, I hope this helps someone with their own DES journey.

It has now been around 8 weeks since my sub-brow-lift-surgery with dr Ko at ILAC. I have waited to do this review because I wanted to recover all the way first and make sure that I could write this review truthfully and with a good conscious. I was going to do a double eyelid surgery from the beginning but I was to scared to go trough with it (I needed more time to decide and do proper research before being mentally ready ) so instead I decided to do a sub-brow-lift at ILAC to make my eyes more symmetrical and a bit wider. First of all I want to share my experience about dr Ko who was the doctor who performed the surgery. He is calm, caring and professional. He really takes care of you as a patient and makes sure that your expectations are met! Most importantly dr Ko has the kindest eyes which was one of the most important things for me when choosing a doctor. I could see that he was a nice person through his eyes and that made me feel safe and to decide to to go with dr Ko at ILAC. On my surgery day, dr Ko was a bit late because of the surgery before mine. Because he was late he offered me to do botox in my jaw for free to compensate me. I was surprised because I have never tried botox before but I agreed and it has been great. I am under a lot of stress at work and I have noticed that I no longer grind my teeth together during sleep as much as before. I will definitely continue with botox in my jaw. This act from dr Ko was great, I mean he could just have ignored that I had to wait a bit longer than planned (it was not that long of a waiting time either) but instead he compensated me. For me that really speaks to his character. I really love dr Ko and think he is a really great doctor and I am so grateful to him! The surgery procedure was done without any discomfort, it took about an hour and I felt no pain at all. Even the recovery time was fast. I was swollen for a couple of weeks but have now pretty much recovered all the way. My eyes are more symmetrical and also a bit wider. Exactly as I wanted and expected. The doctor can not do miracle through only a sub-brow-lift. Also the scar is already fading and looking good. I am very happy with the result and my experience with ILAC and especially dr Ko, I can highly recommend dr Ko to anyone who wants a serious and professional plastic surgeon who actually cares about his work and result for real. My experience could not be more pleasant. I am very glad I chose Dr.Ju and this clinic to perform my ethnic rhinoplasty as they were on top of their game in terms is service and quality all throughout. The doctor was very precise and took all his time to discuss what I wanted to achieve with my ethnic rhinoplasty. Happily, I didn’t feel rush and he answered my 1000 questions quite realistically and professionally. Everyone around was sooo caring and attentive which was so valued as I came to Korea alone. My results already look so so good even through the expected swelling. I had very intensive work done yet my bruising was quite minimal, which I partly attribute to the precision and expertise of the surgeon. I also really liked that the doctor made sure face harmony was considered all through my requests. I also personally want to highlight that I never felt taken advantage in terms of pricing by being a foreigner, and the rates match what my Korean friends have been quoted in the past. So grateful for my experience and can’t recommend enough. However, my only advice is that you try on visiting on less busy hours because you might feel more rushed, however, I never felt that it prevented good patient attention.

Besides that, ILac Manager Ms Sumin was extremely personable and caring person, she stood by me through out the procedure just to ensure I'm alright to leave clinic safely and took great care of me.
